WESTERN SLOPE ROVERS
Minutes - October 4, 2011
Carole Johnson, President called the meeting to order and welcomed those in attendance for coming! There were 24 people attending. The new roster and picture pamphlet was passed out for everyone.
Carole welcomed everyone and noted that we have new members, Karl and Mary Stecker, Marcia Kloss. Also in attendance was Marilyn Griffin, who is thinking of joining. Also Don and Bev Stone, who are not new members, but haven’t been to a function for awhile,
We said the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes from the April business meeting have been posted on the website, so they were not read.
Joann Huff, Treasurer, read the financial report. The beginning balance, $3,602.50, income, $620.00, expenses $608.73 leaving a current balance of $3,613.77. The treasurer’s report was accepted. Joann also mentioned that the dues for next year are due now.
Old Business
Carole Johnson, recapped the activities for the past camping season. We had our first rally in May in Olathe, June, was an un-hosted rally at Rifle State Park. July was in Montrose, August, Ridgeway and September was dry camping at Rabbit Valley
New Business
Some suggestions for rallies in 2012 are Sylvan State Park, Stagecoach and also there is an FMCA rally in Lake Greenwood, S.C.
We voted a couple of years ago to not have a rally in April due to weather conditions. We have had a business meeting in April instead. Diana Crocker said that we were only required by FMCA to have one meeting a year and that was the one in October. The April rally was put to a vote and reinstated.
Dusty Boyd suggested that we have longer rallies and that way we could go to locations further away. He suggested that for a four day rally the hosts would host two days and then everyone would be on their own for the last two days. We decided it would be up to whoever was hosting a rally to decide the time length and location.
Paul Wulff passed out sign up sheets for rallies in 2012 and also had several pamphlets of different RV and State parks to choose from.
Norm Friend, again, showed the window clings that are for sale for $10.00.
Diana reporting for FMCA, stressed the use of the magazine that we receive every month. For example, on page 8 it lists the new FMCA officers. On page 18 there is tech talk and also recalls. Upcoming rallies are also listed and new products for RV’s.
She also stated that any member was welcome at any FMCA rally. You do need to make reservations to attend.
Nomination of officers was on the agenda next. Paul Wulff, one of the members on the nominating committee stated that the prospective officers are as follows:
Diana Crocker, President
Paul Wulff, First V.P.
Norm Friend, 2nd V.P.
Ann Boyd, Secretary
Joann Huff, Treasurer
Don Stone, National Director
Richard Chaney, Assistant National Director
There were no other nominees or objections to these folks.
The Christmas party is scheduled for December 10th. Paul Wulff asked if we want to do what we have in the past and have a main meat and everyone bring a dish or to have it catered in.
We took a vote and it was voted that we will have the meal catered in at $12.00 per person. Details will follow. Margie Wulff asked if people were tired of the “White Elephant” exchange or not. No one objected to the exchange. Everyone needs to bring a “White Elephant” gift, wrapped. The item needs to be something you have that you do not want anymore.
It is time to renew the website for one year. The cost is $109.00. There were no objections, and it was moved and seconded to renew the website.
We had the installation of new officers by Carole Johnson
The motion was made to adjourn the meeting and seconded.
After the meeting was adjourned we had five delicious soups made by Diana Crocker, Carole Johnson, Claudia Ballensky, Ella Trinklein and Margie Wulff. Other folks brought salads, breads, deserts, etc.
Respectfully submitted:
Marjorie Wulff,
Secretary
